October 2024

Read the full October: Part 2 newsletter here.

By the end of October, there were two hands sculpted from wire mesh (and I am starting to regret not making them wholly out of cardboard, since my arms keep getting scratched up!); both have been paper mache’d (one in the rain; one indoors, waiting to be reattached); one more root system is covered with paper scraps (and the odd leaf or two). I cleaned up the area more, filled in moss where water was collecting in buckets, and added new works to the walls.

I had several inspiring meetings and conversations — with both of my project advisors, a classmate who was traveling through the area, and friends and community members who asked about the project.
